How does Maharishi Ayurveda work?

Maharishi Ayurveda recognizes three energy types, or doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These are the subtle, driving forces of nature. Everything around us is a unique combination of these three doshas. Your personal combination is called your constitution.

Ayurveda constitution

Your individual constitution is not static. Your emotions, thoughts, activities, the weather and your environment constantly influence your doshas. For example, if you are very busy, your Vata dosha will increase. The will show which doshas are out of balance. When one or more doshas are strongly out of balance, you can become ill. By adjusting your habits, such as your diet or daily routine, the balance will be readdressed which will result in optimum health.

Even a recent imbalance will be detected during the pulse diagnosis. By taking immediate measures to balance the dosha in question, you will prevent illnesses or ailments. This is why Maharishi Ayurveda is such a unique system for the prevention of illness.

According to Maharishi Ayurveda, ama is the second most important cause of illnesses. Ama is de accumulation of toxins in your body. Your cells and tissues will not only absorb nutrients from the food and air your breathe in, but also toxins. Toxins can also be created because our food is not digested fully, which can also cause mood swings and emotional pressure.

The pulse diagnosis will tell me how much ama there is in your body. A detoxification treatment will rid your body of ama and dietary adjustments and change in lifestyle will then prevent accumulation of ama.
